Broadway is the birthplace of an additional world-class musical, The Lion King, as it continues its successful run with one more limited showing to be performed on Thursday 27th November 2025 in Reynolds Hall at The Smith Center, located in Las Vegas, Nevada. With second to none facilities and equipment seen in the interior and exterior of the previously stated location, locals have proclaimed that Reynolds Hall at The Smith Center remains to be one of their favored musical theater locations for the longest time.
The musical narrates the lighthearted yet tragic struggles of a little lion cub called Simba, who is next in line to become the King of the Pride Lands following his father. The African territory however is filled with secrecy and internal strife, as even in this pure and childlike musical, tragedy appears when Simba's father and King is murdered as a result of the betrayal of his wicked uncle Scar, who harbors a secret hatred for the King of these lands. The young Simba chooses to escape the Pride Lands and goes into exile for much of his early childhood. While away in the forest, he runs into new companions, Timon and Pumbaa, who encourage him to forget his past and live life on his own terms. Simba's happy-go-lucky mindset then turns upside down when Simba once more encounters his long-time companion Nala, who shares the plight of the people with him and asks him to retake his rightful place as king.
This complicated plot of heartbreak, unfound courage, and fearless leadership is amplified by the iconic and emotional music, written by Elton John and Tim Rice. Their original songs, supplemented with added compositions and lyrics from big names like Zimmer, Lebo M, Mark Mancina, Jay Rifkin, and director Julie Taymor have improved and elevated the quality of the musical not only in Broadway, but also in several tours all over the world.
The original stage adaptation premiered on July 8, 1997, at the Orpheum theater in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The show was received so well by fans and achieved almost instant success, leading to the show's shift and beginnings on the Broadway stage on October 15, 1997. Currently showing for years in theaters worldwide since its first showing, it's now your chance to see the third longest-running production from Broadway, New York as it comes to Nevada.
